Ooni visits Awujale today in his efforts to foster peace, unity and progress in Yorubaland

In his continuous effort to ensure total peace among Yoruba nation, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Ooni of Ile Ife today paid a royal courtesy call to his Majesty Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Ogbogba II, Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland.

Ooni of Ife who was in company of all traditional rulers in Ifeland was received by over 28 traditional rulers in Ijebuland, Otunbas and many business mogul who are sons of Ijebuland.

Speaking, his Imperial Majesty explained that their is a need for all members of Yoruba nation to come together and defend their rights.

“Yoruba must acknowledge its values and be in unity in order to develop and promote the Yoruba land”.

“Am not here for supremacy battle because all of us belong to one God and the King of Kings to whom we will all be accountable”. Ooni said

Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi explained further that his visit is mainly to acknowledge Oba Adetona as one of the paramount kings in Yorubaland whose wisdom and experience is most needed in unifying all sons and daughters of Yoruba.

“I will be closer to Oba Adetona to solicit his support in the campaign of unity and peace I started” Ooni said.

In response, Oba Sikiru Adetona ,Ogbagba II, Awujale and paramount king of Ijebuland expressed joy to Ooni of Ife whom he described as a very thorough bred human being.

Oba Adetona advised Ooni of Ife to shy away from history distortment from anybody, undue government influence and praise singers.

“Our paramount aim is to speak the minds of our people and  provide social amenities”

While acknowledging the role played by the late Ooni o Ife, Oba (Sir) Adesoji Aderemi for the mutual respect that existed between, saying Oba Enitan Ogunwusi is a man of history whose reign as a paramount king in Yorubaland will be fruitful.

Earlier in his welcome speech, Oba A. Oguntayo , the Ajalorun of Ijebu Ife who describe Oba Adeyeye as a unique monarch and epitome of distinction, saying his visit is historic and it will go a long way in the history of Yoruba land.

It will be recalled that Ooni had stated in his condolence message on Olubadan a week ago that he would have loved to be hosted by the late Olubadan as he would be taking his unity visit which he had begun with Alaaafin to his palace in Ibadan.

The environment of the Palace of Awujale received over 25 kings within and outside Ijebuland and all the socialite and business mogul who are sons and daughters of Ijebuland. They include Olori Omo oba of Ijebuland, Otunba Subomi Balogun, Olorogun sonny Kuku, chief Ayo Adebanjo.

On the entourage of Ooni of Ife includes all royal fathers from Ifeland, Chief Alex Duduyemi, Chief John Odeyemi, Chief Bisi Omidiora and several other distinguished Nigerians.

After the all said and done gifts were exchanged as a mark of new dawn between the two Kingdoms.
