To impeach me, you will have to impeach God first -Fayose

The governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose says for anyone to successfully impeach him, they would have to impeach God first. Gov. Fayose said this during an audience participatory programme; ‘Meet Your Governor’ aired on the State Television, EKTV, Ekiti Radio, Progress FM and NTA, Ado-Ekiti on Monday, April 6.

“I’m like Israel that is in the midst of enemies but will always prevail. Whoever wants to remove me will first have to impeach God. They are doing all these just to get at me because of my support for President Jonathan and I have no regret for supporting the president. Let me say it again, I have not been served any impeachment notice. The House of Assembly is also on recess and Dr Adewale Omirin is not the speaker of the State House of Assembly. Omirin is in court, challenging his impeachment and he can’t be challenging his impeachment in court and at the same time laying claim to being Speaker.” Fayose said.

  1. This sounds more like the ranting of a hustler who has almost lost his marbles. Does any human have to refer to God to receive their ‘just dessert’? What Fayose is forgetting is that no one places so much importance on who he supports as a presidential candidate, but his personal conduct, utterances and reliability will judge him as a person. A case of ‘the executioner not wanting the shadow of the sword passed behind his back’. People with a clear conscience do not need to fear what people say, in the first instance, and not what comes from political game play. It seems Fayose continues to trample on people’s emotional stances, and this can be unforgivable for many. It is, however, down to him to make amends where he believes he has misstepped. Afterall it is said that ‘in politics, there are no permanent friends or enemies’. Nevertheless, nemesis does catch up with us as humans, and so is God. He should stop committing further heresy by ‘roping’ God into his plethora of power plays.
